This works well out of the box and is a good price if you already are using Makita 18 volt batteries. I think you want to baby it, I saw reviews that had the neck cracking up ( I taped mine up already as a preventative measure) but I can see that being a stress point. It sucks well but i think you want to empty the canister and clean the filter before the suction is affected. That would be kind to the batteries too. If it keeps working as it is I am very happy with this vacumn.

I love this little machine! When my husband brought home another tool/gadget I thought, “why would we need this?” After a week I wondered how we got by without it. It is lightweight and easy to pull out, yet great power. He and the kids are more likely to pull it out and clean up after themselves than they were if they needed to pull out a broom and sweep. When our daughter bought her own home, she asked for one the following Christmas – daughter number 2 has asked for one this Christmas! Worth the buy!
